Terms of use

Short version: Dimesum is a shared ledger for friends. It records who paid and who owes, and it never touches the money. Use it honestly with people who agreed to be at the table, and we will keep the score straight.
1. What Dimesum is, and is not
Dimesum is an app and website for recording shared expenses in a group, working out each person's share, and recording when someone pays someone back. It is a record keeping tool.
Dimesum is not a bank, a payment service, a wallet, a lender or a money transmitter. We never hold, receive or send money. When you settle a debt you do it in your own bank or payment app, and Dimesum only records that you said you did and that the other person agreed. A balance in Dimesum is a record of what the members of a group entered. It is not a judgment about who legally owes what.
2. Your account
- You need an email address you control, and you must be 18 or older.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Sign out on devices you no longer use.
- One address is one account. If you sign in with Google, that Google account is linked to the same Dimesum account and cannot later be attached to a different one.
3. Tables and the records you share
- A group (a "table") is shared. Every member sees every bill, split, comment and settlement recorded at it, and the payment details each member has chosen to show.
- Invite links and quick split links are keys. Anyone holding one can take a seat. Share them with the people you mean, and replace a link if it reaches the wrong hands.
- Members who can no longer be reached, and members who leave, remain in the table's history as anonymous seats so the arithmetic stays true for everyone else.
- Edits never erase. Changing a bill adds a corrected version and keeps the original, and every member can see both.
4. Acceptable use
Use Dimesum for genuine shared expenses among people who know they are at the table. Do not use it to harass anyone, to record debts a person never agreed to, to store content you have no right to, or to probe, overload or interfere with the service. We may refuse or remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
5. Drafts written by a model
When you type a bill as a sentence, a language model proposes a draft. It can be wrong. Nothing posts until you confirm it, and what you confirm is your entry, not the model's.
6. Privacy
How we handle personal data is in the privacy notice, which is part of these terms.
7. Availability and changes
Dimesum is provided as it is, and we work to keep it available and correct. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will give notice inside the app before a change that affects your records. You can export your records by asking at support@dimesum.com.
8. Ending the relationship
You can delete your account at any time from the app or by following the deletion page. We may close an account that breaks section 4 after telling you why, except where telling you would be unlawful.
9. What we do not promise
To the fullest extent the law allows, Dimesum is provided without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the records at a table are complete or accurate, because they are entered by its members, and we are not a party to any debt between members. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, which today is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India. If you live in a country whose consumer law gives you protections these terms cannot take away, those protections apply to you.
